LAW Application Software
Local Area Webs or LAWs are built using IBM's Lotus Domino
software and are fundamentally designed for ease of use. LAWs will
support conventional applications such as e-mail, discussion forums,
on-line help and e-commerce. The software is designed to allow local
retailers and businesses to directly communicate with on-line consumers
by demonstrating products in graphic form on-line. In turn, on-
line consumers can communicate directly with their local retailer,
request information and purchase products. Finally the software
allows for dynamic generation and editing of content, without requiring
any programming savvy, or even HTML editing capabilities on the
part of the end user. This decentralized content management capability
makes for extremely efficient operating costs because there is no
need for an extensive webmaster staff that would typically handle
the input and management of all the content across the 1200 sites.
The sites are essentially password protected but self serve and
allow the people closest to the content, the people who live in
the community, to keep it up to date.

..Content |
 |
PlanetToday.com believes
that it is critical to have a well rounded experience-based content
with a mix of lifestyle, local services & content. To this end we
are actively pursuing alliances with content specialists in these
area. A sample of such alliances include: Telemedia Publications
for lifestyle and localized content, and eieiHome for its localized
services and 'how to' content.
|
Telemedia's
dynamic mix of eleven high-quality magazines in both
English and French markets deliver a strong mix of national,
regional and niche markets to advertisers.
Telemedia
has expanded the audiences and operations of their existing
magazine brands with websites like TV Guide Live
(TM) , Vancouver Village (TM), Canadian Living
Online (TM) and Elle Quebec (TM). On-line advertising
activity can extend on-page advertising activity with these
brand extensions.
In
1997 eieiHome (formerly Chargnet) was developed as the first
comprehensive home-related site available on the Internet.
eieiHome offered consumers access to useful information,
do-it-yourself tips and tricks and a directory of service
and product providers in 80 distinct categories. Based upon
the idea that all companies would require an online marketing
presence, they targeted small and medium sized local businesses.

|
..Local Sales |
 |
Cracking the
local market in the area of local advertising / e-Commerce sales
has unique obstacles and characteristics. PlanetToday.com has a proven track
record in the area of local sales and will continue to pursue this
revenue source in LAW communities. In addition, PlanetToday.com has been
negotiating alliances with several other complementary players in
this arena, whereby a revenue / resource sharing arrangement will
be negotiated.
PlanetToday.com continues
to look for 'win win' alliances with other providers who can benefit
from our localized approach.
|
..Affiliates |
 |
PlanetToday.com has
and will continue to identify National Affiliates that round out
and complement our lifestyle-based experience. We are utilizing
existing affiliate programs, and actively pursuing the creation
of our own National storefronts (again through partnerships).
Our micro-marketing
approach has lead to an impressive click through ratio of 15%.
