PlanetToday.com's Web Site Evolution |
 |
In an effort
to maximize PlanetToday.com's coverage of communities within North America
in a two year period, PlanetToday.com has adopted a phased approach to its
product line. Below is a description of each phase of the product.
As a subsequent phase rolls out, it builds upon the features provided
by the previous phase in a manner that is seamless to the user.
Overall
the product line represents the next generation of service oriented,
user-centric, infomediary Internet sites - easy access, user-friendly
information utilities designed for the dissemination of needs based
information, products and services via state of the art e-business,
e-Commerce and e-marketing solutions.
Phase 1 - Local Area Web (LAW) Portal
Phase 1 LAW portals focus on saving users time by bringing the Internet
down to earth. LAW portals consist of local content from the worldwide
web , organized for easy point-and-click access.
Phase
2 - Fully interactive local site
PlanetToday.com's fully interactive sites provide users FREE point and click
access to needs-based information. Community organizations and associations
generate the needs- based content via our self-serve web sites that
they update directly through their browser (not requiring any HTML
expertise). Local businesses pay for access to highly focused micro-markets
via our self-serve web sites that they update directly through their
browser (not requiring any HTML expertise). Businesses get interactive
marketing capabilities that allow them to build relationships with
online consumers. Phase 2 also includes our publication called 'The
Month Ahead' that contains a calendar of events for the upcoming
month, and is delivered to selected households in the community.
Phase
3 - e-Commerce enabled, fully interactive local site
The LAW begins selling and hosting e-Commerce and e-business solutions.
Businesses can now process complete end-to end transactions on-line.
Back-end e-business capabilities provided by IBM can integrate merchant
orders with local distribution centres, and/or delivery services.
A phase 3 LAW enables users to purchase items on-line for inexpensive
and rapid delivery. Phase 3 LAWs focus on saving even more time
and money for users and community stakeholders, as well as transforming
traditional businesses into e-businesses, generating e-Commerce
revenues in the process.
Phase
4 - co-op enabled, fully interactive local site
Once a LAW is well established and profitable via e-marketing, e-Commerce
and e-business revenues, additional revenue streams are generated
via additional value adds to the consumer such as bundled products
and services offered at substantial discounts through PlanetToday.com discount
