How PlanetToday.com helps Communities |
 |
PlanetToday.com's Local Area Webs (LAW) are built on the five pillars existing in every
community in North America:
Local
businesses
Public institutions
Schools
Community newspapers
Community groups,
clubs, and associations
PlanetToday.com acts
as a local hub of interactive information and e-commerce and as
such offers these five pillars a simple low cost method for publishing,
sharing, co-editing, integrating, transacting, collecting, and messaging
information. This information can include content distributed from
a central location downward, or data collected locally and channeled
into a central database. As an information utility, the flow of
information is bi-directional.
Information
of relevance to citizens is often related to tasks and scheduling
of their day-to-day lives. "What time is Billy's baseball practice?",
"When is the parent-teacher's meeting?", etc. The LAW software
enables clubs, associations, even businesses to manage their own
self-serve LAW pages directly via their Internet browser, without
any programming knowledge. This unique feature saves associations
and their membership a great deal of time, and keeps people coming
back to the site on a regular basis to get the latest updates to
newsletters, schedules, etc.; all this, with a minimal cost on the
part of PlanetToday.com.
PlanetToday.com's Goals
are to:

Act
on behalf of each Community as its Advocate |

We
Strengthen Local Economies
Most
of today's global/national Internet literally drains revenue out
of local communities. Whether made online or offline, any purchase
made outside the community is a sale lost by a local merchant. Similarly,
advertising spending on national search engines is taking revenue
out of the local economy. PlanetToday.com is designed to give the local
community control over its Internet presence. In so doing, we will
keep sales and advertising revenues in the local community, thereby
strengthening the local economy, creating employment, and generating
tax revenues for local government.
PlanetToday.com intends
to be the one place on the Internet to find local businesses and
stores, without getting lost in the national search engines. And,
by so doing, will strengthen local economies.

Loyalty Programs
and Relationship Marketing
Every registered user of the LAW will be able to earn "Clix" loyalty
points. These points are readily transferable into cash at any ATM,
anywhere in the world, via a debit card held by the user.
Clubs and associations
who refer their membership can earn Clix on the activities of their
members; this is a powerful motivation for associations to encourage
user participation on the LAW. The clix points earned for the association
through the activities and e-commerce of all association members
on the PlanetToday.com LAWs will be redeemable as a charitable cash donation
to the association in January of each year.
